Not so long ago, I was struggling to take my network marketing business to the next level. For those of you who do not know about me, I come from technical background and thought that I would be making money fast building websites. It was frustrating to see college drop outs ( No offense intended here) make money faster though they dont know much about the basics of building a website. Tired of not making money, I pushed my ego aside and sought the help of the leaders in the industry.

One of the top internet marketers told me that I had a common problem that lot of internet marketers have and should learn to get away from the crowd at the bottom to reach the top. Not fully understanding what he meant, I asked for further clarification. He instructed me to work on my mindset and daily habits. Hmm… What does it mean?

I did not get instant answers to all the questions I had towards achieving the success I envisioned. However, I was determined to find the answers for the questions I had by associating with these leaders. My goal in this post is to let you know that you are closer than you think to achieve your goals If you can understand what success means to you and follow the nine rules that the top leaders apply in their life to achieve the envisioned success.

Success is considered as the continuous realization of the outcomes or results you desire. On the physical level, success is often seen as specific material accomplishments – like owning a car, home etc. However, once the material posessions are obtained, there is no further growth in understanding, wisdom or consciousness. Those who operate at this material level are consumed with maintaining those posessions that represent their success. On a spiritual level, true success is the progressive, continuous effort of attaining your goals and realizing your vision. This guides you to your worthwhile purpose in your life. So, I urge you to have a vision what success means to you in your mind always. As Earl Nightingale says, You become what you think about most of the time.

Never take a break from the success journey. Do not stop for rest and reward too soon. When you stop at the first sign of success, you become stagnant, lazy and begin to decline. As your effort begins to produce rewards, work even harder. success and achievement come only through continuous work. The only place that success comes before work is in the dictionary

One of the most difficult steps you will face on your journey to success is to get away from the crowd at the bottom. There are lot of unsuccessful, mediocre people who have failed to recognize or act on their true potential. You must clear the deck to make room for new associations which will complement and enhance your success efforts. Once you break away from the mediocre crowd. you will feel lonely. Be prepared to accept this temporary state of loneliness before you begin soaring like an eagle.

You must be willing to change your life completely to make your life congruent with , consistent with , and harmonic with your desired success. Do some introspection and figure out if there is anything about the way you feel or think about yourself that will frustrate your success efforts. If so, handle it immediately. Do whatever it takes , for as long as it takes, to become the person that you must be to accomplish your goals and realize your vision.

Do Not Procrastinate
Do not wait for the right conditions to take actions. Believe that you always have the understanding, courage and self confidence to take action. Realize that procrastination is a state of mind.

Do it Now
Take the first step. There is always something that you can do right now to move closer to achieving your goals. Use need, desire, ambition and attitude to motivate yourself to take action.

Stand on your own feet
Do not depend on anyone or anything for your success. They may be depending on you. Believe that you already have everything you need to get everything you want. You need to become independent as a part of your interdependence.

Do not fear failure
If you are failing, you are trying and progressing. Remember that every failure is a dress rehearsal for success. Every opportunity for success also cotainis the possibility for failure. Learn from you mistakes and focus on the possibilities of success.

Do not sell yourself cheaply
You are worth exactly what you say you are worth.Know your full potential and the true value of your talents.Recognize that you are very special individual with boundless capacity for prosperity in all walks of life.

Develop the success habit of being goal oriented
Set Realistic goals for yourself. Determine what must be done to attain your goals.Make plans for their attainment and keep record of your Performance and achievements.Stick to your goals until they are accomplished.

Visualize your goals and believe you can achieve them
Use your imagination to see each goal clearly. Develop a sensory relationship with your goal. Know how it looks, feels,smells, tastes and sounds.See yourself as though you had already attained it. Hold that vision in your mind and believe that you can and will accomplish it. Know that your goal will be achieved in a timely manner.

Plan your work and work your plan
Analyze your goal. Write down Each and every action that must be performed to achieve your goal. Make a plan for its attainment. Prepare a time schedule for the performance of each action. Execute your plan in accordance with your time table and produce desired results. When you execute your plan effectively, you attract the attention of other people who will help you in your efforts.

Do not Quit
To quit demonstrates your lack of belief in yourself. Winners never quit and Quitters never win. When you get to the end of the rope, tie a knot and hang on. Be prepared to do whatever it takes for as long as it takes.

Not targeting the right audience
Most of the network marketers out there are targeting the opportunity seekers instead of opportunity buyers. An opportunity buyer is a person who believes in network marketing/ML M potential and is looking for solutions to achieve his goals in his network marketing business. On the other hand, opportunity seeker is a person who is skeptical of the opportunities he comes across and does not take action. Whom would you like to work with? I personally would love to work with an opportunity buyer.

Money lies in the business
Today, I hear lot of people say that money lies in the business. It is not true. Money actually does not lie in the business but in the highly targeted list that you build over a period of time. I would highly recommend you to start building your list even if you do not own a business currently. Why? Because you can start making money from day one when you join an opportunity

Extremely focused on promoting the business
Today, there are so many opportunities (websites) out there and people are really overwhelmed with information on the internet. People are looking for real leaders who can provide value and assist them in achieving their goals. So, it is very highly critical for you to position as a leader and provide value.
It is a known fact that people join you and not your business. And people will join you only if they can trust you. Today, I see a lot of internet marketers pitching about their business on social media. Let s say two network marketers are having a conversation and are pitching about their business. Do you think there is any probability of a relationship between them? Absolutely not. On the other hand, if you position as a leader and provide solutions for taking network marketing business to the next level, people will value you and sooner or later would join you.

Ignoring self funded proposal
Why do 97 % of network marketers fail? They fail for only two reasons
• Lack of Leads
• Cash Flow
Most of the network marketers are not able to generate massive leads. Even if they do, they are not able to monetize their list and generate cash flow. Why?
It is a known statistic that 95 % of the leads generated by a marketer do not join his primary MLM business. How do 3% network marketers make money though 95 % of the leads do not join his business? They use a self funded proposal to sustain the expenses of their primary MLM Company and generate massive cash flow.
If you are serious about network marketing, you need to have a self funded proposal in place along with your primary MLM business. What is a self funded proposal? In short, you promote various affiliate products such as courses, tools etc that could help your list achieve their goals and monetize.

Not applying Law of Buying Consistency
This is closely tied with the self funded proposal I talked above. Law of buying consistency states that if a person buys a product worth $1, and then there is a good probability of him buying a higher value product.
Today, I see a lot of internet marketers directly promoting their higher end value products or even their MLM opportunity to their list. You might lose your leads for good if you follow this approach. You need to test the appetite of the person before promoting a product. Apply the law of buying consistency consistently and test the appetite of the person promoting the lower end value products before promoting higher value products.

3. How to synergistically use facebook with other marketing strategies like PPC and other paid strategies. When you have converted a cold lead generated through PPC to a warm lead by developing relationship on social networks like facebook, your conversion rate would increase dramatically.

People like to buy and not being sold. So, always provide value through your auto responders. When the timing is right, they would buy the product from you because they have developed the relationship and trust with you through your emails. I had a very poor conversion rate driving traffic directly to replicated corporate websites through my web campaigns and had lost thousands of dollars. I would highly recommend you to create capture pages/squeeze pages that has your videos , pictures and stories before the sales page of the product that you are endorsing. Why? The visitor will be able to relate to you and your experiences and might become an instant SALE.

It is a known fact that search engines like Google does not like stand alone capture pages. Again, the best way is to create the capture pages as part of your self hosted blog or website and provide visible/unvisible links to the other pages of the blog in your capture pages. This is the most efficient way to position yourself as a leader and be on the top of google page.

Affiliate Marketing
As per statistics, 95% of the lea %ds generated by an internet marketer do not join the primary business opportunity he is promoting. We hear all the time in our industry that leads are the life line in our business. What do we do with 95% of the leads who did not join our primary business?

Today, leaders in the industry either create or become an affiliate for more than 10 products that could be of value to their leads. I believe you should too indentify and associate with a minimum of 10 products, promote the value of these products through your auto responders and monetize your list.

Once you have these four critical elements in place, it is impossible for you not to have consistent and increasing cash flow each and every month and in turn have a profitable network marketing business.

Lets look at a few facts about Amway
– operates in atleast 80 different countries
– Assets are in the range of 7-8 billion.
– Rich Devos, Founder of Amway Corporation, is in Forbes 400 list and owner of Orlando Magic
– Have tie ups with great companies like SEARS, Barnes & Noble etc
– Is a certified member of Better Business Bureau.
– Founders of Network Marketing and Free Franchise
– Been in the business for more than 50 years

Amway products are excellent and are offered at competitive prices ( I still use them). Their customer support is unbelievable. Then the question arises, why there is so much negativity?

Most of the negativity is due to the frustration of ex members of marketing organizations associated with Amway who didn’t have much success. BWW ( Britt World Wide) is the top most marketing organization of Amway and has churned out the maximum number of millionaires. I was part of BWW and consider myself blessed to be associated with top leaders in BWW even after moving on from the opportunity. BWW has excellent marketing and training support through CD’s, tapes and meetings. I religiously attended the meetings and listening to CD’s and tapes and developed the millionaire mindset I was actively marketing Amway products for three and half years without much success before I quit and became an internet/affiliate marketer.

Looking back, I feel that I would have had success in marketing Amway products if I had access to the information shared below. Based on my experience, three major challenges every IBO faces are

1. Leads :Network Marketing is a numbers game. Most IBOs are not comfortable with the process of generating leads using cold contacting techniques once they are done with their friends and family and are not exposed to many offline marketing techniques.
2. Branding: In Network Marketing, you are either a leader or nothing. One has to brand and project himself as a leader before becoming one to attract high flying eagles ( not ducks) in your business. How can one brand himself as a leader on a mass scale?
3. Cash Flow: It is very critical to have a consistent cash flow to keep your business alive and to have a high downline retention. IBO’s can generate cash flow by selling products. But there is a challenge here. We all know that people like to buy rather than being sold. People tend to buy only when the timing is right and are exposed to the information of the product consistently. How can we expose the information consistently and on a mass scale through offline methods?

I truly believe that Internet can solve the major challenges listed above using a concept called Attraction Marketing. Attraction marketing is a strategy where you brand yourself as a leader by providing valuable content and attract leads/prospects like a magnet.
